2006 The World Championship of Intercollegiate Solar Boating  Results

The 2006 Solar Splash 13th World Championship was held in Fayetteville, Arkansas, from June 21-25,2006.  Overall, 16 teams from USA and Canada raced in the week-long event.

2006 Team members consisted of Michael Boomer,
Douglas Bechthold, Ryan Canfield, and Benjamin Wagner & faculty advisor Dr. Recayi Pecen. 

We did  an outstanding job and won two trophies; one for NINTH overall with 545.57 total pts, and the other for  
"The most commercially viable hull design" again as we did last year!
Qualifying Event:

  • Total Time: 111.1 s , 62.64 pts with only one attempt! 
Other Results:
Solar Slalom Event
  •  54.86 s  with 62.5 pts
Sprint Event
  • 132.38 pts
Solar Endurance Event
  • 184.05 pts
Total: 545.57 pts  9th Overall!

Mike is enjoying nice sunshine with "Panther" e-Boat during the Solar Endurance Event.

Charging our batteries for Spring event using our BP-Solar panels! Ryan is being BAKED under the full Arkansas sunshine and Dr. Pecen is "friendly" reminding him to put his T-Shirt on!
