College of Natural Sciences

 

The College of Natural Sciences at the University of Northern Iowa seeks to educate students to live and work in an increasingly scientific and technological world. To carry out this mission, the College emphasizes quality teaching, research and experiential learning. In addition to liberal arts and technical programs, teacher preparation programs are offered in the sciences, mathematics, computer science and technology. The College also believes in sharing its knowledge through technology transfer to the community and through public and professional service.

April 11: Dr. Paula Heron of the University of Washington will give a talk titled "How to Measure the Effects of Reform," as part of the Sigma Xi Speakers Series at 7 p.m. in Lantz Auditorium of McCollum Science Hall.

April 14: The lastest installment of the Saturday Science Showcase, a series of presentations by local science experts that are accessible and of interest to the general public, is "Taming the Wild Grape," by Jean Gerrath, professor of biology, at 10 a.m. in the Center for Energy and Environmental Education auditorium.

April 17: UNI's fifth annual Earth Day Celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Maucker Union Plaza.

April 18: The 14th annual Sigma Xi Student Research Conference will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the foyer outside the Multicultural Center in Maucker Union.
